Temperatures are rising and layers are being shed as the masses begin their annual migration outside. With an eye toward the growing importance of outdoor spaces, MDF Italia’s Outdoor collection responds to the desire for open-air living with contemporary, functional pieces designed for use in both residential and contract spaces.
Elegant forms with a visual lightness about them feature details that have been chosen to match your aesthetic preference while also meeting the needs of an outdoor environment. Sofas, chairs, tables, and more can be found in the Outdoor collection, each characterized by high-quality materials and finishes that are designed to last. We’re breaking it down further below.
Modularity and comfort meet in Cosy Outdoor, wherein a painted stainless steel structure serves as the seat and backrest, as well as a decorative element. Designed by Francesco Rota and released in 2017 for interiors, the family continues to grow and adapt as it expands across the industry and into the open air.
Designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga and Michele Cazzaniga, the Tense Outdoor table appears to be made of a single piece of aluminum at first glance. This effect is achieved with a machine-brushed finish on the tabletop and legs that are polished by hand using machines and abrasive polishing pastes. Choose from a range of reconstructed stone finishes in onyx yellow, onyx pink, sage green, and brick red, in addition to painted finishes and the classic white calce, black slate, and stone Serena.
Created by Jean Marie Massaud, the Rock Table collection, along with the Rock Table Mini, fits into a variety of residential and public outdoor spaces in its numerous iterations comprising a round table in varied heights, oval, or rectangular with rounded corners. The natural and stone-chip cement finishes are inspired by the environment, helping the pieces blend in seamlessly.
A second series designed by Massaud is the colorfully woven Neil Twist collection. Rope encapsulates the load-bearing steel frame of each chair, armchair, and stool, which features contrasting stitching in anthracite for added interest. Light and adaptable, this seating is a great choice for any outdoor environment.
The ARPA Collection is inspired by the harp, but pared down by designer Ramón Esteve to the least amount of elements possible. Its sofas, armchairs, poufs, and coffee tables welcome endless combinations and uses. An orthogonal shape provides stability and is topped with an all-enveloping cushion, while thin strings give the appearance of it hanging from the frame.
